Project Spotlight: Front Yard Transformation in Trabuco Canyon

Some yards need a full reset. This 438 sq ft front yard in Trabuco Canyon, California had seen better days — patchy natural grass, bare dirt spots, and a struggling planter bed that was more weeds than greenery. Here’s how it turned out.

Before: Worn Out and Thinning

The existing lawn had thinned out unevenly across the yard, with bare dirt breaking through in multiple spots. Temporary stakes mark where the new turf’s edge would eventually run, following the curve of the paver driveway border.

The planter bed along the walkway tells the same story — dried-out grass, exposed soil, and a miniature fence border that was doing little to actually define the space.

After: Clean Lines, Full Coverage

Catalina Turf now fills the yard edge to edge, framed by brown Standard WonderEdge running tight against the paver curve. No more dead patches, no more uneven thinning — just a consistent, full lawn from fence line to walkway.

Along the walkway and rock bed, the same Standard profile holds a clean transition between turf and stone, keeping the rock contained and the turf edge locked in place.

Even in the tight corners around the planter, the edging bends and holds its line, giving the roses and flowering plants a defined, finished edge to grow against instead of a ragged transition.

The Details
This project used brown Standard profile WonderEdge throughout — running along the planters, around tree wells, and across every transition point between turf and hardscape. Over 438 square feet, that meant a lot of curves, corners, and tight radii, all held by the same rigid, install-first edging system.

The Result
What was once a patchy, inconsistent front yard is now a clean, cohesive lawn with defined borders throughout. It’s a good reminder that the lawn is only half the project — the edge is what makes it look finished.
